Anesthesia required for a "Flex sig" exam?

It is time fr my flex sig, the short version of the colonoscope I get as I have a J pouch (no problems). Last time I was sedated but the doc says I don't need anything as the scope is short and the exam is over quickly. Anybody have experience to relate? Do I get sedated or not?
