Hey! Ever since I have had my takedown, my blood pressure has been pretty low. I'm not sure if it has always been low because I had never had my BP tested before surgery. My average BP ranges from 111/62 to 101/59. I have no real symptoms of low blood pressure, except for at night when I get up really fast (I see stars). I also have a fairly high heart rate (normally over 80). Should I be concerned?

My blood pressure has been lower since my surgery as well.. it;s always been lower than the normal person but I honestly think it's from all the different drugs and narcotics I've had to take since the original surgery. I always have problems in the hospital where I need my pain meds and they can't give them to me because my pressure is too low. I haven't ever had any change in my heart rate though.
If your concerned, ask the doctor, I'd say.. Smiler

Mine has hovered around 95/51 since surgery. I also have a higher heart rate, usually around 99. It gets better if I drown myself in the drink. LOL. Not alcohol, but water!!! And I mean, literally drown myself. In fact I've only been able to drink that much a few times. I feel as though I'm going to explode!

I also have low blood pressure normally.
I wouldn't say those figures would be of a concern though.
It is much much better than having high blood pressure!!! just take care not to get up too quicker etc.

I'm a 90/60 girl myself. That's on a good day. If I'm sick or just not feeling good it goes even lower. Mine has always been low. I always attributed it to meditation. But it's probably genetic. Not sure about my heartrate, no one has ever mentioned it. But they always comment on my blood pressure. My mom had low blood pressure all her life. Now she's 80, and on meds to lower it. I have to hold on to the something when I get up too fast too.

Have a fabulous day!

mine is low, too. there's a thread, "no colon, effect on blood pressure", where there's a discussion like this. i thought this was an interesting point jan contributed: "The colon is a very large organ and a large percentage of your blood volume is contained in it (approximately 20%), so losing your colon would reduce the load on your heart by that much."

My BP has been low since surgery, although I'm still awaiting takedown and so fluid loss through the ileostomy may be contributing to this. I was typically 120/80 prior to surgery, and lately have been running 90s/60s. Which is actually kind of nice as my mother has been on medication for hypertension (mild and well-controlled) for years.
