Has anyone ever heard of the drug, Clindamycin, (Cleocin). My surgeon decided to have me try it because Cipro no longer seems to be working for me. I was on Arythromicin until last December and that stopped working as well. I'm going out of the country for a week and am terrified of using this drug - the side effects sounded horrid. I feel as though I'm chasing my tail....not getting any real answers for what's wrong with me other than there was microscopic inflammation that was found during a scope - however, the pouch looked "very, very good", what is that supposed to mean?? Right now I just feel like climbing under a rock - so many things seem to be going wrong all at once....can't deal with it!

Not sure if this helps, but I was on Clindamycin....once. after my gall bladder surgery. Gave me diarrhea every 15 min around the clock. Poor nurse, wasn't sure what to do when I said NO more antibiotics! Of course everyone responds differently, can't discount that. Have they considered Xifaxan ? It stays in the gut, does not go into the bloodstream so less likely to have side effects.Thats what they have started me on after a scope that looked inflammed, ulcerated and friable with inflammation extending beyond the pouch, great. Anyway, as far as the med, so far I feel better with only a headache for side effect.

Thanks Lori, decided not to take it....don't want to be out of the country with horrible side effects, I'm sick enough....decided to go back on Aumentin and suffer through the week.
As for Xifaxan, I asked my surgeon about it and he said that it was very expensive and it has not helped any of his patients....I just don't know what to do anymore - have been on antibiotics for almost a year now and keep getting yeast infections.....Jan thought that my butt burn might be yeast, and she was right.
