I had mt pouch created oct 1 2007 and I have been doing relatively well but my rectum is burning constantly and rectum is raw. any suggestions to help stop burning ? is this diet related if so what helps?

give it some time and be patient. things will take a while to work out. watch what you are eating and drinking. if it bothers you, DON'T have it again for awhile. some things you may not be able to have now but can have later.

check out the sites at the top of the page for ilex and calmoseptine. i love calmoseptine. you can get it from your pharmacist without a prescription.

With me, when my "consistency" is to thin (liquid), I get the burning sensation. My solution is to firm things up a bit with some metamucil.

Burning is the number one complaint of j-pouch patients. Liquid stools are the culprit. It's actually stomach acid. Sugar, tomato sauces and not eating enough make me miserable. Good luck...hope you figure out what works for you.
