Bill, The vast majority of us get back to something like before, but never "normal." With fiber, probiotics, meds (immodium, lomotil), and dietary choices - you can have fairly normal looking stool eventually. Usually after a few months things will start to shape up. But we all go through periods where things are not as good. And unless you have specific issues (pouchitis, a flu bug, etc.), you shouldn't see runny poop like you are now. As for dehydration - yes, we are more prone to it even when our stool is more solid. Because we are going 6-7 time/day, we lose more water than usual when we had the colon there to reabsorb fluids. Drink, drink, drink.
