Hi All,
I have been excercising for years-before and after j-pouch surgery which was over 7 years ago. Lately, and it's getting worse, every time I come back from the gym I am in pain in the stomach area no matter what I do even if I do not do stomach exercise-which I way cut back cause of this. Running can just set it off. Even cleaning my house, lifting the vacumn, moving the wrong way, is setting it off. Short of surgery, a cleaning girl and sitting around doing nothing, I'm running out of options I think. Has any one else had this problem? Hi Susan, I don't have any answers for you, I'm sorry you're still having problems. Maybe it's time you go see Dr. Milsom. It sounds as if things are getting worse.
Feel better, janna |

Hope I'm not too late on this reply...
I've had a j-pouch since I was a child and I exercised regularly for years. I got pouchitis last year and had to stop. It was treated, I was scoped and the doc told me I have a healthy pouch, but now I experience the same things you describe when I try to exercise. I can't walk a mile on a treadmill without experiencing bad pain and cramping the second I step off. It hasn't gotten to the point where I can't clean, but its still frustrating me like all hell. So far my surgeon doesn't have an answer, I got scoped again thursday and he said he saw only very slight inflamation and didn't think that was enough to cause this. Please keep us posted if you find out anything new about this. |

I swim regularly, and have abdominal pain the day after. I have always attributed it to the muscles still being sore.
I do have something that is a little odd and exercise related (maybe a similar problem). If I sleep on my left side at night for any period of time, I will awaken every time with pain in the left side of my chest. It is much worse after I exercise - making me think it is related to muscles and possibly attached scar tissue (I had an abcess in the same area last year, a drain put in, etc. - I'm sure there was scarring).
