Hello all,
I have a question about night time incontinence and one about mucous. I had step 2 of a 3 step surgery on 3/24/8 and have lots of mucous discharge sometimes with blood on the toilet paper. Is this fairly normal? Weeks went by with no blood, now the TP is pink sometimes, sometimes not. The other question has to do with nighttime incontinence. I sleep until about 3 usually, then get up to empty my ileo pouch, then go back to sleep until about 6-7. The only time I'm ever incontinent is just before I wake up....and it's not every night. Is this common? Is there a correlation between incontinence now and after takedown? I have been doing my kegels. Thanks so much! Les |

Hi Les:
The blood in the mucus is pretty typical of people waiting for take-down. Prior to take down I had mucus that varied in amounts and with blood or no blood (pink is the standard amount of blood. True bleeding should be seen by a Dr.). I think that the incontinence that you describe is common as well. I am not sure if there is a relationship between being incontinent before to being so after. Again some leakage is pretty standard after take down but once the pouch expands and becomes functional it tends to go away. It only happens to me now if the pouch gets out of sorts and early in the morning, when i am in my deepest sleep. Good luck! Mike |
