I just went to the surgeon and he checked the fissure that he removed 4 monthes ago. I went because it hurts to pass stool. He checked and the stupid thing has still not healed. He called it the ever lasting gobstopper. I am back on Flagyl and hope that it will help it heal. The fissure is right inside below the staple line. I just want to go with out pain.

Hmm... I have not had fissures treated but have read here about fissures before. And I don't know that Flagyl is going to heal it up. From what I understand, it takes weeks to heal them up and the best remedy is topically-applied nitroglycerin cream.

Do a 'Find' on "fissure" and see what others have discussed/said.

Lizzie,
I tried Dermawheat after a post here suggested it for fissures and it has really helped me. You might give it a try. You can also find it by doing a search for dermawheat or fissures.
I hope you feel better soon, fissures definitely suck!

Lizzie,

My GI had me use Nitro Glycerin to treat fissures when I had them. It worked very well. Fissures are real buggers to get rid of, it takes some time but with the proper treatment they can heal.

Try your best to keep from pushing or bearing down when you are going to the bathroom. It is a very hard thing to do when you have a fissure, but trust me on this, it helps.

Hope it heals soon!
