A very good friend of mine's husband, spent the last few days in the ER. His time in the hospital sounded like a nightmare, even by our standards. He thought he had the flu about 9 days ago. He would get a little better, but then it would come back again. he eventually began vomiting when ever he moved his bowel. The ER people did a CT, and said it was diverticulitis. Then another doc disagreed with that. They are very disappointed with their GI, a Dr. Papp. They finally are going to do a colonoscopy next week. The poor guy hasn't had food for over a week.

Does anyone know of a good GI in that area? The closest city is Grand Rapids. I recommended Cleveland Clinic, they are about 6 hours from there.

Have a fabulous day!

Where, exactly, in Michigan are they? The reason I ask is that I have family in Kalamazoo, Detroit, and Grand Rapids, and they may be able to recommend someone.

Cataja,

That's my neck of the woods. I'm about 25 minutes from Grand Rapids and I know several GI's that I would recommend in West Michigan. What city/hospital is he in exactly and I can make a better recommendation based on proximity.

Rick

Cataja,

I have a few recommendations: In Grand Rapids, the Ferguson Clinc (www.fergusonclinic.com) has several good GI's. Or, I'd also recommend my GI, Dr. Egan (www.wmgpc.com)- but he is in Grand Haven which is about 45 minutes to an hour away from Dorr. My other thought is, if he already has a colonoscopy scheduled, then maybe he should keep it to get in faster?

If I can help in any other way, please let me know.

I'm in MI but probably 3 hours away. Hope he gets the help he needs. When you say he has BM with throwing up.....does the throwing up cause the BM? That happens alot. Could it be something bacterial? At least he has a friend like you who understands these things. Does he know about this site? AGain, hope everything works out....I really hate hearing about newly diagnosed IBD people. Theres far too many!!!

I think the bowel movement causes the vomiting. Sounds like they happen at once.
