It's been awhile since I've been to this site, and I value everyone's opinion. I began Remicade in May after being diagnosed w/ Crohn's Disease last January. My diagnosis 13 years ago was uc. After a flare up with an abscess the summer of 06' I have been newly diagnosed w/ Crohn's. I had a j-pouch construction in 1999, and never had a problem. My question is: I've been on Remicade and Methotrexate and my insides are clear of disease, but I am still having problems with a little drainage from a perianal fistula. Will this fistula ever heal? Or do people just have to live with them? I hate being on the meds since I've never been on meds before and they don't seem to be clearing up this fistula. I met with my surgeon ealier this month and we talked about options and he doesn't want to do any surgery because I'm so healthy and the fistula is so tiny. Will it stay tiny? I worry about things getting really bad, and I am very healthy and active otherwise. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Carrie

Carrie,
I feel your pain! I'm currently undergoing Remicade treatments while temporarily diverted to hopefully heal two fistulas that developed only 2 months after my takedown. You'll find a great deal of information on fistulas and treatments under the women's section. There's a post called "Fistula Gals Wontcha Come Out Tonight"....many have posted on that tread and it's quite informational. I'm assuming that since you're located near Cleveland that you've been to CC for a consult? They're quite good there.
Feel free to PM me anytime.

Michelle
