I just went through several days of weird happenings. I didn't feel one area of a blockage or partial blockage but my output slowed down and I knew I wasn't going enough. Then the pain came. My entire abdomen hurt like childbirth labor pains. Then, after taking pain meds, it felt like around a six inch horizontal area was clogged up. I finally got things to going and went, went and went. Then my insides felt sore inside. Does this mean I might have a stricture up at the top of my pouch or too small an opening or is that the same thing? Does it mean I took too much psyllium? I'm back to not taking that at all. My internist said I needed to take it as I tend to get dehydration issues - but I've been keeping track of that intake better. Just the first time I felt a backup and hadn't heard anyone describe a feeling like that before. A year post takedown and getting a different pain. Thanks any input will be greatly appreciated. ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~

toughenough, When I take 2 peptos a day or more, my output always slows down and really thickens. I know you take this also, so I am not sure if this could be causing an issue for you. Last night I took a pain pill and pepto and had issues similar to you this morning minus the pain. Not sure combining these two are a good thing to do as the pain meds can slow things down also. Try drinking more water than usual today and lessen fiber intake? and see if this helps. The pain could just be from things slowing down esp if you have to strain when emptying. If you still have it today, I would call your gastro. Hope you feel better today.

Sounds exactly like a blockage. The pain can be excruciating. The lack of stool passing, waves of pain, followed by the large flood of stool and painful insides are classic symptoms. Hang in there. These suck but i am glad it passed. Take care UC 22 years since 18 Step 1- April 29, 2010 Step 2- November 8, 2010 Mucusectomy w/advancement-2/14/2011 Step 3- May 2, 2011 Can't believe how i feel!!!!!

I have this feeling almost every day. Been going on since 1998. It is like labor pains. Stretching of the small bowel is very painful. I sometimes get so clogged up I have to go to hospital to get it sorted. I cannot eat vegetables anymore and I have to take laxatives. It is horrible.

Yes, sounds like a partial blockage which may be caused by a stricture or by something you consumed. Sue

When I had a blockage, the pain was VERY similar to labor. Sounds like you had a blockage. UC Dx: 9/2008 Step 1: 7/7/2009 Step 2: 11/18/2009 Sacral Nerve Stimulator: Stage 1: 3/1/2012 Stage 2: 3/20/2012 Surgery was the best decision I made!

Thanks everybody dtmack described it better than I did, but that was it. Veri-Unique - I admire you going through this every day. Especially when you don't know the cause is when it's more frustrating. I thinking I'm getting my fruits and veggie daily requirement in a smoothie every dad. My scope is pretty soon, hopefully I'll have some answers. Thanks! ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~

Yes, it could have been a blockage. SO glad it passed. Was your abdomen distended and not soft, kinda hard to push in? When my daughter has a blockage her bowel sounds are very active and loud, the gut is trying to pass things through but cannot at that time. Sometimes white grape juice can help, but only if she is not too nauseous. I think the pain meds, like kjeane said may slow things down. I don't know if you take any immodium but she stops them for about a week after the blockage is over, she doesn't want to slow anything down. She is sore in the abdomen for days after, depending on the blockage. Hope you are feeling better soon and get a good report when you have your scope! Take care.

Veri-Unique, I feel so bad for you. You've been suffering too long. What do they do in the hospital, just wait it out? I wish they could get you a treatment you could do yourself. Beckys Mom, Yes my stomach gets hard but not extended as I have so much flab from my weight loss it's rather disgusting. You all helped me determine the problem but now I need to search for a solution. I take no immodium and very little fiber when I have a smoothie only. I don't think the pepto is causing it. The pepto is helping with the burn. I'm still taking pain medication daily and that's probably contributing most. I hope the scope shows if I need a dialation or not. I'm thinking I need dialating or have something else interfering as it doesn't happen all the time. ~~~~~ You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails ~~~~~
