Group,

I haven't been in here forever! I want to report that there is light and hope at then end of the tunnel.

I eat most everything I want. I have been slowly introducing raw veggis and salids. They seem to cause a lot of gas, so I only use them at a minimum

I also try to minimize spicy foods, even though I feel better, Buttburn has nearly gone completely away and I never want it back!

I have found that I am more comfortable if I eat dinner early...6pm and eat light.

I do have night-time incontinence from time to time. It's more 'clear' fluid like than stool.

I have a pattern that has FINALLY developed with regard to bathroom visits. If I am hungry and smell good food...I gotta go. And after I eat a meal, I gotta go. I typically go 5 - 8 times per day.

I guess if I had to rate my JPouch success from a 1 being terrible and a 10 perfect, I would say I'm an 8.5

I have to admit that for me, the one year mark wasn't the magical timeframe for success, rather the 1.5 year mark.

On another note, my Thyroid gland has decided to go bezerk! My TSH is Zero and my Free T4 is 2.5. I also have 'arthritis' like pain in my lower back, bilateral hips, and some days my spleen feels like it's going to explode. I had an MRI of the Abdomen/Pelvis/Thoracic and Lumber spines. Tomorrow I have a thyroid scan.

Thank god for our great insurance plan and our Aflac secondary!!

So to conclude...everyone It's looking better and better as time goes by!

Best and Warm Regards,

Scott Cannon

Scott,
That is great that you are doing so well. Your upbeat post will be good for those out there that are at the beginning stages. It's always nice to read a success story.
Take Care,

Yes, it is great to hear that you are doing so well now. It's what I needed to hear right now, I am 10 months post TD and things are still rough for me. I kept hearing that 6 months was the 'magic' number, then I would hear 1 year, then others were feeling great only a few months post TD and some times I get so frustrated wondering if things will ever get better for me.

I hope that your other health issues don't keep you down, just another hurdle in the race! Since I have had my pouch surgery I have been diagnosed with arthritis and other IBD related health issues, it's not fun but at least we can say that we are fighters and survivors.

All the best and I wish you the best of health in the years to come.

Thank you for posting! I'm glad to hear you are doing better. Hopefully that 8.5 gets closer and closer to 10!!

I had my TD in 10/03, and just recently have seen the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm grateful for the turn-around, and the ability to eat most fruits and veggies. Only broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, etc. still cause blockages.

It is a good reminder that not everyone follows the same timetable. We all heal at our own pace.
