I am 4 months post surgery and gradually getting better and better. Its true that time is a healer. I usually go around 5/6 times in a 24 hour period however for the past 5 days I have only been going 2/3/4 times.
I feel empty after going apart from 1 time during the night and am eating the same. Do you think there is something wrong or I have simply taken the next step to recovery. Incidentily I have just taken steps to reduce my codeine intake which was very high although not in the same league as Arncap. I have gone from an intake of 12 - 15mg tabs a day to just 4 tabs. On that note - Arncap I feel your pain with the codeine issue - I "discovered" how "well" I felt on narcotics (firstly tramadol then codeine) and started taking more and more, even ordering from less than reputable online pharmacists, I found that when I didnt take a lot I went to the toilet a lot and tried to take more when really I was coming down from the codeine which makes you go to the toilet. I would advise you try and reduce your intake and see the first few days of illness as necessary as it does get better. After a couple of weeks your body will adjust and will get by on a lesser dose. I speak from experience. Love the people who treat you right Forget about the people who don't If you see a chance, take it If it changes your life, let it |

Manchester,
I can't speak for everyone, but from my experience, it sounds like you are having a normal, and maybe even better than normal, recovery. Going 1 time a night is expected, and 5/6 times a day is great. As long as you feel empty and comfortable, it seems like 2/3/4 would be fine. The only concern is if you start having pains and bloating and cannot go at all. Otherwise, your frequency is much better than mine was at your stage in the process. So unless you stop completely with lots of pain (and of course, Jan would know best), I would think it's a good outcome. The frequency may go back up soon, and I think everyone will agree these pouches are unpredictable! UC, 1989 One-step j-pouch, 1999 Crohn's of the pouch, 2002 Ankylosing spondylitis, 2007 |

Sounds normal and it sounds like you've moved to the next level. That's a very good thing.
Aren't we just the silliest? Things go well and we question whether that's really the case. kathy *********************************************************** Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it's been..... Grateful Dead |
