Good day all J-Pouchers! hope everyone is having a great day!

Well, my day of surgery June 4th (done) it was a 7 hour long surgery!

My surgeon had some proplems triying to create or pull the stoma out of the belly as much as they could!! and all this due the big ammounts of steroids, the small intesting was too swollen! well they did what they could and is working fine!! passing gas the very first day.

On Sunday June 6th my first food came in, but I was not that hungry, so I ate what I could.

On Tuesday June 8th, I develop something that it looked like an obstruction! I was bloated, and when they send me for an X-Ray I had a lot of liquids in my tummy!....well after several test this turned out to be some liquid been detained inmy pelvis! and so my doctor order something called a Pig-Tail! which is very painful and to make everything short...it goes from your butt all the way to your pelvis....local anestesia!!

Well, they also put me on the infamous! N-G-tube!...wow this is not pleasent, but they pull a lot of fluids from my stomach that it was creating a lot of problems for my intestines.

Yesterday June 12, the N-G-Tube came out!! whoo Hoo!! I felt so much better that I almost vomit!!

One thing that I should say is that I have developed a very nasty hicup! since the problem with my pelvis came onboard!!!

Question here?????

Did anyone develop hicups while in the hospital or afterwards????

Also to make the story short I will have liquids again!!!Yummmy!!! I am very very hungry!!!

Well, everyone I will keep you guys updated, thanks for the support!

I also had everything you mentioned, but at different times. I had an NG tube put down the day after surgery. My intestines were not waking up. A couple months after takedown I have unexplained fluid in my pelvis also. When they did the original ultasound, they said I had a "large mass" in my pelvic area. That was a scary to hear. I ended up having to go back to Mayo, (where my surgery was performed). The large mass turned out to be my J-Pouch. Can you believe that. I hate having to go anywhere other then Mayo, because they just don't know enough about the j-pouch and all that goes with it. Best of luck.

Have a fabulous day!

I had three ng tubes, over the past couple of years, and one nose tube for feedings, and I had three feeding tubes plus the one that I have right now for feedings, I know exactly how you feel I also had a small bowel obstruction and was back in the hospital a couple of years ago after coming home from the hospital I had to rush back to the emergency room where I had my surgery performed. I never had the hicups after surgery though. Even now I still can't eat solids and have to be fed through a g tube. Goodluck to a speedy recovery to you.
