I find that a salad (veggies only) has a binding effect on me. Does this happen to anyone else?
It occurred to me that some of the participants of the recent Cookies & Milk...vs...Vegetables post stated that consuming a salad causes them problems with increased frequency. It has an opposite effect on me. It slows me down and results in an incomplete evacuation, unless I want to spend many consecutive hours in the hopper. It will also cause me to strain to move things along. Therefore, I only eat a salad if it is part of a larger meal or will only eat it if it is something like a grilled chicken salad or tuna salad. Even then, after evacuation, the lettuce pretty much looks undigested.
I routinely eat lightly steamed veggies (e.g. broccoli, cauliflower, green beans) without issue. Granted the veggies are almost always consumed as part of a meal with chicken, fish, or beef. Occasionally I make a stir fry with nothing but veggies (cooking the veggies very lightly) and tofu and never have any issue. I don't have issues when I eat these veggies raw either. Lettuce, when consumed by itself or only with other veggies, proves problematic.
Any thoughts as to why lettuce produces these results (no pun intended)? Thanks.

I don't have any problems now but before takedown while I had the temp-ileo - I believe lettuce is what landed me in the hospital for a week with an obstruction.
