Hey, I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced some weight gain after having their j-pouch surgery (forgive me, but I forget its technical name). I had surgery 2 years ago and ever since, I have been roughly 10-15 pounds overweight. I eat healthy and exercise moderately, but I can't seem to loose these 15 pounds that seemed to appear shortly after my surgery. I talked to a natural path and she mentioned that it may be my body's way of protecting itself as there is no longer a colon surrounding my other organs. Anyone else feel the same way and if so, any advice on how to loose weight??

I was having a real problem with sugar. I tried to cut it out as much as possible, and have lost 30 lbs since January. I have always battled steroid weight. I have never heard the protection theory. Good luck.
Have a fabulous day! I have come to believe if the doctors look hard enough, they will find something wrong somewhere! UC...1985 Step one...Aug 2006, Takedown...Dec 2006 Emergency SBO Surgery...Oct 2007 |

Yep....story of my life! I love all foods and drinks. Have found I need to make healthy choices. I eat everything but the everything has to be healthy stuff. Lots of fruits/veggies/fiber/no white bread, potatoes, rice.....I feel better and the pounds have come off. Even though my J-pouch loves french fries and mac n' cheese.....my scale doesn't!
