So…last week one of my nightmares came true…and I survived. I’m a makeup artist, and was doing a client when I looked down at my shirt… (during the holidays we had to wear these red t-shirts with gold writing on them)…there was a dark stain on the front of me. I thought “what the heck did I spill on my self”. I kept doing the makeover and kept glancing at my shirt. I had a makeup brush belt on, so it was too noticeable to anyone else. Then I felt the liquid below where my bag sits. I excused myself and said I had to go get another brush, I went in the back room and lifted up my shirt, and my bag was completely off the wafer and spewing everywhere. I tried to snap it back on, to no avail. I washed my hands, went back out, finished my client, made the sale, told my boss, I have to run to the bathroom for a few minutes. Unfortunately we don’t have a bathroom at my store, I have to go over to Nordstroms. Thank goodness I had an extra bag with me. I cleaned up, changed bags, rinsed out my shirt, and went back to work. The only repercussion I had was a nasty acid burn on my lower abdomen. So…the moral of my story is…my biggest fear happened…and I survived! And my co-workers now think I’m Wonderwomen! LOL! Things happen…and ya deal.

Have a fabulous day!

You have a wonderful attitude Cataja! Sounds like you didn't get too flustered. I probably would have been crying!

Last night something happened to me for the first time with my j pouch. Thought I could pass gas without issue since I usually have no problems doing that. Well no fart but I pooped myself a little! Good thing I was home. Too many Christmas treats these past few days....it's been a bit unpredictable!

Nice, wonderwoman.

How we cope with a disaster can depend on a lot of factors, but the best method is a wonderful attitude.

Good for you, Cataja! Amazing how fears can be worse than the actual event. I heard that the REM song "End of the World As We Know It" was written about how Michael Stipe (lead singer of REM) thought it would be the end of the world if he was publicly "outed" but when it actually happened, it wasn't so bad after all.

Thanks for sharing this. Best wishes for a healthy and happy 2012.

I too had a bag break open on me at work. I was able to go to the bathroom and clean everything up but the wrap (which I threw in a bag until I could get home & wash it). Nobody was the wiser!

Ahh, what a great attitude, Cataja. I, too, had my bag open (loop ileo, almost total liquid) down my jeans and into my boot. I DID cry! Kudos to you!!

You are brave. I would have gone home and wished to never leave again. great inspirational story. And funny how people respond differently than we think they will.

Kataja: So it seems you have had to use a bag for awhile, I assume your skin adapts to the wafer and all after awhile? I am getting ready for a possible 2 step surgery in Feb. and need all the advice on this subject I can get because originally I thought for sure I was getting a one step but things may change according to my doc he can't guarantee that will happen.

Cataja- you are right. We do live thru our worst thought out nightmare. A quick funny story, before my husband had his take down- we met a a local pizza place on a friday after work. My husband stood to use the bathroom to let gas out of his bag, as he stood up, his pouch hit the cornor of the table and his pouch flew off- right at the feet of our waiter, My husband scooped up his pouch and went into the bathroom- we laughed so hard- thw waiters face was priceless
