Hello everyone!

I asked last week if anyone has ever experienced pain behind the but cheek post op. I had a scope done in the er last Monday and they did four biopsies inside the pouch. While I was in the hospital they had me on Cipro and Flagyl through i.v. They sort of treated it like pouchitis or a typical bacterial infection. I have been pain free for about a week but I have pretty much put my body on shutdown during that time. Let's see what happens when I go back to work. I was sent home on Flagyl and Augmentin and taken off Cipro. The docs thought I was building a resistence to the Cipro because I have battled chronic pouchitis since my surgery two years ago.
So my surgeon today said that the pathology report came back negative and that there was no signs of Crohns Smiler It was the news I was waiting for all week long. I did ask then why I was experiencing this totally different pain and he said it might have been the scar tissue in and around the pouch that was inflamed. Something to do with the fact that there is no vascular flow into the scar tissue. We were both happy with the results of the pathology test and how well I have reacted to the new meds.
I was wondering if I am alone on this. I have times that I feel like I have UC all over again and then there are times when it feels like I am a normal person again. It's a total bipolar experience but I am happy because with UC there was never good days. Thanks for listening and I would love your feedback.

Tom

Oh yeah, I had pain like that, but it was more central. Turned out to be a presacral abscess (over 500cc in size). No scope needed to diagnose, they could feel it on digital exam. CT confirmed it.

Fast forward a decade, and I get deep upper buttock pain. Sometimes both sides, sometimes one side or another. Turned out to be sacroiliitis and ankylosing spondylitis.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
