I have a good bit of pain in my jpouch when sitting for any period of time. It's very tender. The pain lasts for a couple of days after I've sat for 1 hour or more. I'm on my feet most of the day and recline after work. But when I head to church, a movie or anything like that, I'm in pain for several days following. I use a heating pad as soon as I get home, and always carry a pillow with me to sit on, but I still am having pain. I had my takedown in early October. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if it will just take time to heal. I did have a stricture that was dilated at the time of surgery and I'm not sure if this is just a temporary problem or if I'll continue having issues with it. Other than this little glitch, I couldn't be happier with my jpouch.

How long ago was your takedown? I had this shortly after mine and was prescribed Canasa suppositories and that helped. They also helped when sitting made me feel like I had to empty my pouch. In other words, sitting stimulated that area. If Canasa doesn't help, then hydrocortisone suppositories may do the trick. It sounds like you have some irritation down there that gets more irritated by the pressure of sitting.

My takedown was October 6. To clarify, sitting doesn't make me have to go to the bathroom. It's just incredibly painful. The only way I can think to describe it is that it feels bruised and the pressure is causing a bruise on top of a bruise.

Oh, I see. I'd say it still sounds like some sort of suppository is in order to calm that area down. I just think it goes right to the problem area. Maybe you can ask your doc. On another note, my husband was just in Zanesville on business! Never been before.....

I hate to mention this, but I had issues with pain severe enough to make me squirm while sitting. Turned out to be a presacral abscess. After about a month of not knowing what this was, I spiked a fever of 105. That sent me to the doctor pronto and landed me in the hospital for 12 days.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

Sorry to hear your still having butt pain.
My j-pouch surgery was 3 years ago. Yes I had lot of pain and discomfort in same area of my butt. For several weeks I thought it was a muscular pain (lower back). One day I investigated further by pushing up on my anus. This increased the pain and pain was more localized. I determined the pain was directly inside me but close to my anus. This is exactly where the surgeon connected the j-pouch. One can imagine the injury associated with muscle, nerves etc with this type of surgery. It took several months before the pain subsided. In effect the surgery took this long to heal.
I now have normal feeling in this area (if one can call living with a j-pouch being normal). You will be pain free in time.
Best wishes.

About a month, but I had low grade fevers of about 100 degrees before that.

Thanks, Jan. I called my doctor today. After answering a very lengthy list of questions, I was diagnosed with pouchitis. I started on flagyl this evening. I still feel amillion times better now than I did with Uc.
