I was in the pharmacy today looking at vitamins and saw something called a digestive enzyme, underneath it said "helps digest foods you cant" would that have an effect on us?? I tend to stay away from things with skins, would the enzyme help to break it down more so it would be easier to pass??

My doctor recommended I take one simply to help with gas but I'm sure it helps with a lot of other things as well. I don't think it would hurt to take it.

I was curious about digestive enzymes too. My first thought was that it would probably give me diarrea.

Olive Oil, if your doctor recommended it for gas, did it give you any "unwanted" side effects?

I didn't notice any other side effects at all. I didn't get my refill so I haven't been taking lately simply because I found some advice on this site that really worked and I haven't needed the enzyme for gas. Although as I said earlier it may help with other things as well so I should probably start taking it again.

My doctor gave me a prescriptive one that contains 3 different enzymes. I've been taking it for 2 weeks and have not noticed any difference.

I use Digest by Enzymedica. You can purchase it at Whole Foods and also online with Lucky Vitamin. I have had very good results using it, especially when I eat out, I tend to have issues vs. my cooking at home.
