I'm so happy to hear that you are expecting, congrats!! My concern with getting prego is I'm already 30, If I have to wait a few more years to try because of the surgery and cant get prego right away I will be older than I would like and my daughter will be older as well and I would like for there not to be such a large age gap. Either way we'll see. Maybe when I go for the second opinion they will say I dont even need surgery!

I'm 34 and this is my first baby. We might want a second baby and if so, it will probably be when I'm close to 38. This wasn't due to the pouch, we just weren't ready yet. However, it did take us a while to conceive. I say about a year but my husband says 6 months of that we actually really tried. I had a miscarriage last year at 7 weeks so I'm still kind of on pins and needles this whole time. I really wondered after that if my body could handle a baby, it had disappointed me all my life. I wondered about nutrition, strength, how the pouch would do, and some of my other health problems. I also have the most amazing high risk OB that when the time is right, we can discuss for you because he has made both of us really feel good about this and is so patient with all our questions that it's been the most amazing experience I couldn't ever have imagined. I started with another doctor in his group but after step 1 that Dr. retired. Dr. Lee did my second surgery and had assisted in my first. I found him to be very smart and highly recommended. I had the surgeries at St. Vincent hospital which I found to be WONDERFUL - great docs, great nurses, etc.

I've since had a surgery (not related) at OHSU. I was not happy with them due to all the doctors and interns filling up my room all the time and they seemed really big and no one could remember what I was there for. I felt like a number. That was just my experience there.
