the last 3 weeks i have began a program of taking plain pysillium in a tiny bit of water after every meal. it has made such a difference in the quantity of bm's - 50% at least. i have even eliminated the pepto bismol from my diet so that thrills me. metamucil, fibercon, or citrucel has not had these results for me, don't know why. at night, i awaken only once compared to 3-5 times without the stuff. i also take 4 lomotil before lunch like i have for years. everyone is so unique but i wanted to share that bit of information. i have no more watery bm's which is the culprit for bb - a big victory for me.

Such an informative thread. I don't know why I waited so long to try Imodium.
I have a question though. My Imodium (EZ Chews. 2mg Loperamide HCI) says: take only on an empty stomach (1 hour before or two hours after a meal).
Can I still take it with, or nearer, to meals or should I be vigilant?

Does taking immodium so frequently not make you dependent on it, and also reduce its affect?
Something I heard which has stopped me using it thus far.
Can anybody advise?

I questioned my GI and surgeon about this and they said no. That you wouldn't become dependant on it nor would it lose it's effectiveness. I take two at mid morning and two at night and it has really helped me. I only have about 5 bathroom trips a day. Yeah! Take Care Susan
