Hi everybody!!! Haven't posted on here hardly at all mostly because I have been reading soo much about everone elses experience and advise. But I recently have noticed something since my take down which was back in February, I have been kind of straining when I goto empty when I am at home and sometimes my body completely tenses up to where sometimes I think I'm gonna pass out, or fal off the toilet. What I noticed is that if I am away from home and have to use a public restroom, I don't have nearly as much trouble emptying my pouch on the public(handicapped) toilet. Is it possible that the higher toilet is affecting the way my pouch empties????? Tried searching but didn't have any luck! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks Alot
Bob

I'm just wondering if it has something to do with the handicapped toilets being taller than my toilet I have at home, like it is some how helping my pouch flow better or something. could it be that when I am at home and on the toilet that I am obstructing flow somehow or something like that??? Dunno, maybe I just making too much of this.

Thanks
Bob

I definitely think that the height of the toilet could be helping you. Also, I find that the shape of the seat can make a bit of difference sometimes too. If they're the curved ones I sometimes find that I 'sink' a tiny bit into the middle and this can help me relax and empty more quickly. Sounds hookey i know! But I often have trouble 'relaxing' the area/sphincters so different toilets/seats/etc can definitely make a difference sometimes.

I tend to get the opposite effect - I can empty better on lower toilets. I always struggle on the train because the toilets are quite high.

I find the taller toilet’s more comfortable and easier to go on. I am planning to switch the toilets at the house to the taller / elongated toilets as soon as I can get around too it. I am a pretty big guy, so I find the little people toilets uncomfortable. It's just a matter of ergonomics.

I actually find that the taller toilets are more helpful when there is more in the pouch. I do have trouble using the smaller toilets sometimes. It is funny...my friends actually say I can write a book that rates the different public restrooms in Pgh. The taller, more spacious ones do get a better rating in my book. There is one at work that gets four out of five stars. LOL.

See Bob, and you thought you were the only one...Lol.
I haven't really found a good way to change things at home. I put a padded seat on my toilet after takedown since i was spending pretty much the whole day in there and my legs would start falling asleep, but now I find that it actually hinders things a bit and the normal toilet seat upstairs is better.
You can try placing a small stool under your feet to see if that changes the angle at all, but if you like taller toilets then i'm not sure that'd be helpful...Sometimes if i spread my butt cheeks a bit and perch on the edge of the seat it can change the position a bit.
Such a technical business this is.... Smiler

Yea.....thanks everybody I feel alot better about this now! My friends and family thought I was crazy, some of them just don't understand what I am going through. I think I am going to look into changing out my toilet now to one more like what we have here in the public restrooms, I'll let everyone know how it works out.

Thanks
Bon

While you're at it....changing your toilet....invest the extra dollars in installing a toilet with a bidet. I have the Japanese Toto Bidet which is a part of the toilet seat. I would never live without it! So easy to use/maintain and not only keeps my bottom clean but shoots warm water "up you know where" to help that sphincter relax and empty my J-pouch. I absolutely love it!
