So, the incisional abscess came back, but since it closed up, the doc doesn't think its a fistula. However, I am having a small bowel series and MRI on march 7th (day before I turn 18!!!) to see if there is any connection, and to explore my tailbone pain. I got put on 3,000mg sulfasalazine for inflammation. My hair is falling out in clumps, my joints are killing, and I'm a mess, but hopefully it will get better. Oh, and I'm going to see Dr. Moschowsen (or something like that) at Beth Israel, I've heard amazing things about him so I'm pretty excited about that.
Not sure if I mentioned this yet, but my dad got diagnosed with UC a month or so ago. Weird, because he's the first on his side to get it, we always though it was my moms side because she's got like 6 cousins with it. He's on sulfasalazine too, and a six pack of budweiser a day. Needless to say, he's stressed and we haven't been getting along lately. But, me and my mom have been getting along great, I'll be spending weekends at her house from now on, so I'm also really excited about that. All in all, things have been looking up CHELSEA Perm Ileo march 11th- still battling e.coli/staph/intraabdominal abscesses/bacteremia. |

While I am not at all happy to hear about some chronic problems for you, I am happy to hear that they are being taken seriously. Too bad that your latest excitement is seeing a new doctor
Now I guess it is clear where you got your UC from, since a first degree relative is a more likely culprit... Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |

Hey Chelsea, Thanks for the update! My hair has been doing a disappearing act as well, although it's not actually disappearing - I find it all over my bed/clothes/shower, ugh.
Hopefully your tests will show if there's something going on, nice touch that it's right before your birthday, better than being the actual day I guess. That's great that you and your mom have been getting along, that must be nice. And I get excited sometimes to go to the doctor/get tests too, haha, as strange as it sounds! I'll walk this winding road into the great unknown. |

Chelsea,
I was your age when I got diagnosed with UC but what you have to deal with is astounding. I've come across your other posts and I find your spirit and humor in the face of what you're dealing with truly amazing. Like you, I'm from Massachusetts, so maybe there's some Yankee resolve there. I don't want to say "hang in there" because I hate it when people say that to me now. What would be appropriate? How about, "Continue to kiss ass and I wish you good health." Best, Jeffrey H. |

Oops. I meant, "Continue to KICK ass." Unfortunate typo.

I don't know, kissing my work too on some doctors
Good luck at the appointment Chelsea, and as always, keep us posted. "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." Romans 8:28 |
