It's been 6 years since take down and I still can't get rid of this weight I gained from the prednisone. I was so thin before that horrible drug. I need to lose about 60 lbs. It is so hard when you can't have anything with fiber in it. Carbs seem to be the best thing on your stomach. When I try to eat healthy it tears my stomach up. I am afraid to take diet pills for fear they will mix with my prescription drugs. I take Prozac, Wellbutrin, Prilosec, Entocort, and vitamins.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

My suggestion is pretty simple.. if you are not able to change your diet, exercise (have to elevate your heart rate to burn calories)and eat smaller meals throughout the day. Also, drink lots of water. Diet pills are not the way to go.

I joined Weight Watchers and it really helped me get a handle on portion control. I'm not sure I understand why you can't have anything with fiber in it. Perhaps visiting your GI doctor would help you deal with this issue. For me, eating a balanced diet, portion control, exercise and fiber are the keys to weight control. Best wishes in finding a solution to your concern.

Thanks for the advice. I have bought an elliptical machine so I am hoping that will do the trick. It's hard when you can't sleep through the night to have the energy to work out but I will have to forge my way through it.
As far as the fiber goes, I have tried everything from apples to salads and it goes right through me. I miss those types of foods. I will mention it when I see my GI doctor. To be honest I haven't had a check up by my GI doctor or my surgeon in about 4 years. Just my regular family doctor.
Thanks again for the advice.

Once you do get yourself on an exercise routine, you will sleep better and feel more rested. You will likely feel less hungry and have more energy. You just have to forge through it for a couple weeks. Good luck!

I had difficulty losing all the steroid-related bloat until I was off ALL steroids, including Entocort (which you have listed above). I know they say it's not supposed to be absorbed from the gut...they are fibbing!

I'd also be a little concerned that you're still on Entocort for this long without any GI follow-up--or am I reading you wrong?

Otherwise, my suggestion is to lift weights. Way faster than cardio for the same calories burned, and I find I can do it even when I don't have enough stamina for a lot of elliptical/stair stuff. Here's my favorite site:

I just started the Entocort a week ago. I stopped prednisone 6 years ago after my first surgery. When I told my doc I haven't slept through the night since my surgeries because I wake up cramping and full of air, he thought Entocort might settle my stomach down. The first 3 days on Entocort seemed to really help, but since then I don't notice any difference. I keep reading on here about so many people taking Beano with each meal. Maybe that is all I need. I need to visit my surgeon or GI I think instead of my family doc.
Thanks for everyone's advice. Today I did weights and cardio. It really felt great.
