Question for my smart J-pouch friends...Go ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
My friend is having a heck of a time. She has been having severe right side pain. They keep checking her gall bladder, which is not inflamed or showing any stones. The CT scan showed inflammation on the upper ascending colon. We see the same gastro doc, but she can’t get in until sometime in March. She saw a PA there who scheduled the CT. The only thing they have come up with is that it could be some kind of viral infection. This has been going on for a couple of months and she is in quite a bit of pain. Any ideas…? Just a thought....has her pancreas been checked? My pancreatitis symptoms were very similar to gall bladder symptoms. In the ER they ran a test that narrowed it down to my pancreas. Hope she will be on the mend soon! C.E.M.

I would presume that they would have done all the lab tests to rule out pancreatitis, nephritis, hepatitis, etc. does your friend have any chronic illnesses, like IBD, disc disease, lupus, or whatever? Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

With the exception of a nasty kidney stone, which they seem to be sure it has nothing to do with, she is pretty healthy, no meds, no chronic illness...She said she has had tons of blood work from several different docs...nothing showing up. All they have told her so far is that it looks like viral and she needs a colonoscopy. The inflamation can actually be seen on the outside of her abdomin. She has to see the gastro before they will schedule a colonoscopy. Have a fabulous day! '85 UC/'09 Crohns '06 j-pouch/'09 end Ileo Life is short...party like a rockstar!!! I little while back a friend of mine had something similar happen as what you are describing. They did a colonoscopy on her and they called it colitis brought on by a bug (viral or bacterial, I don't remember.) I can't recall what her treatment was but it did resolve itself and she never had another issue. She was sick for a good couple of months though and she lost a lot of weight. Marianne DX UC 2005 when I was 37 Tried every drug and diet....all failed Step 1- 6/25/10 (colectomy & J-pouch creation) Step 2- 10/8/10 (take down) Very pleased with my results.
