Ok, story in a nutshell.

Got my surgery, had my takedown, was diverted because of complications, and spent two years avoiding the second stab at takedown with family issues providing a wonderful excuse not to.

However, I have talked myself into it giving it another go, made the appointments for tests and prep, and, sure enough, with a month between me and connected plumbing, I think I am finally experiencing disuse colitis. Perhaps the Gods are angry I couldn't leave well enough alone.

Off and on I would have the occasional bit of blood in my mucus, but it appears more frequent now (4-5 times a week) and I have a sensation just below my belly button that I would equate with some light gas. Should takedown help? I read that restoration of the flora in my tract could/should resolve this. Anyone have a period this long between procedures? Anyone like gladiator movies?

Yes, the treatment for disuse colitis is restoring the fecal stream. It definitely should help, unless of course, this isn't disuse colitis, but pouchitis or cuffitis. If that is the case, the treatment would be different.

I would not let it change your plans. There have been a few here that have waited more than a decade to have the takedown and did well.

Yes, I like gladiator movies, but I do not want to be a gladiator.

Thanks, Jan. I'm sure it could be pouchitis, too. Luckily I haven't had any fever or cramping, which is fairly reassuring.

Loopogram in a week. Been practicing my kegels. I was wondering...should I slow up on them? Seems with the blood issue I should take a break.

You can continue the kegels if you want. Shouldn't make any difference.
