As a cardiac electrophysiologist with ulcerative colitis and a j-pouch, my best wishes to you with your ablation and recovery. Ablation for AVNRT is fairly easy with very high success rate and low complications. Good luck. H. Clemo.

HFC, thanks for the reassurances. I have my electrophysiology consult on 4/30. I'm not nervous about that at all, and would prefer to just get it over with. But, my primary doc thinks my palpitations will go away when the pheochromocytoma is removed. I tend to think not and that it was sort of an incidental finding. I am sure it will take care of the underlying sinus tach, but the aberrant pathway will still be there.

I am more concerned about the adrenal surgery and really want it to be laparoscopic. I have to be prepped by taking an alpha blocker for a couple of weeks at least before surgery to reduce the long term effects of too much adrenaline. So, we have to make sure everything is coordinated properly.

Shelby, my rheumy recommended I stop the Humira once I was having palpitations and there was a suggestion of an adrenal tumor, even though there is nothing in the literature linking Humira and pheochromocytoma. We can reassess later on. Right now, I am only about two weeks since my last dose, so I'm feeling pretty good so far, but I can feel some of the old pains creeping in.

Jan Smiler

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
