since i've been on flagyl for my r/v fistula my stool is very thick like..i'm not complaining because it's better than diarrhea ..and i can hold it in longer but is it because of the medicine or is it because i'm closing in on one year since the takedown? or a combination of both? i haven't had a night time accident in about 4 months which is pretty amazing..i just really wish the fistula would close..apparently there is another pill besides imuran that you only take once a week that can help..ever heard of it? i don't know the name yet because my g.i. doctor is being ridiculous with gettingme an appt asap.

Flagyl can definitely thicken stool. Our stool is about half bacteria, so you can imagine what happens when much of it is killed. Adaptation probably factors in also, since you are in that one year time frame. But, I experienced improvement in function for several years after surgery. Particularly when I had my cuffitis diagnosed and properly treated.
I don't know what the other pill is that you are thinking of. Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |

Alicia,
I have had the same results this past week with Flagyl. I am not complaining either. It's great to go from 20 times a day down to sixish. And there is definitely a thickening of the stool. I have experienced almost no but burn as well. I hope you find some luck with the fistula problem! take care, Tom |
