I'm 10 days post takedown for the second time. I've been kind of on a ileostomy diet right now. Pretty much any food except the foods not supposed to eat for ileostomy. My question is it seems like when I get thicker stool it's a little hard for me to get out. Is that normal and will it get better as time goes on.

Mark, I always found it easier to empty when things are not so thick. You could try drinking some grape juice, that helps to make things a little more liquid. Just try a little at first in case it gives you butt burn because of the sugar content. I was able to find the right combination, if I had a sandwich, I would eat some fresh fruit or salad with it. I see that this is your second takedown, so I don't really know if your pouch has already adjusted or if it's like a "new" pouch. Unfortunately, there's no set answer, it's all trial and error.

You are still very early in the game and will learn what works for you as time goes on. I cannot tale Immodium as it constipates and dehydrates me. Tincture of Opium works for me. Also, as said above, fruit can loosen things up.
