We all know how illness and surgery affect the lives of everyone around us. My daughter's childhood was profoundly affected by my five year illness and subsequent surgeries. She's written many school essays on the subject. It made her a very strong person. Presently she's in an online scholarship competition. She's one of 64 finalists in a contest that started with 150,000 applicants.
I'm always trying to find ways to make lemonade out of lemons...so here goes another attempt...If you have an extra 30 seconds: go to Zinch.com, click on the basketball hoop, then click on the tab marked 'north', then click on her name 'Whitney Young', then, if you find her worthy, click on 'vote me' beneath her profile. It's a $20,000 scholarship up for grabs. No small change. This site has given me hope, priceless information, a shoulder to cry on etc... now I'm asking for votes!! Forgive me!! And thanks for your support!! Lulubelle

Ohhhh you're so much more computer savvy - posting a link! Brilliant! Thanks for that. I'm really delighted by the response to my post. Such nice support. Whitney's votes have increased dramatically today. She's still trailing...
I have to say - Mark & Megan, I was blown away by your flickr photos. Really, I just sat with my mouth gaping open looking at them. I hope you're writing a book. When I went through my surgery in 2000, it was like entering a dark room. People told me what to expect. In reality, I had no idea what was about to happen. If pictures, and a story, had been available to me it would have taken away a lot of the mystery and fear. What amazing documentation. Outstanding!!
Thanks Utica!!

I think you need to go to the general link not the the specific one because , as Zeke pointed out it was a link after i ve already voted so it wont work for others trying to vote.I ve deleted first link so not to confuse the issue.
Love your bum

My advice: post a message in the General Discussion and title it something like, 'Please vote!' Then give the detail in the post and give people the link. I bet you'll get a lot of votes that way!
Also, if you see the post move towards the bottom of the General Discussion, add a comment to get it back where people will see it.
$20,000 is worth it.
