I had my colon removed and a J-Pouch installed about 9 years ago. Every so often (over the years) I have this re-occurring problem. My symptoms are as follows:
Severe headache nausea deep pain in the right side of my belly general mal de mer fever It lasts about a week and than go's away. I don't have a specialist at the moment and this really scares me to know end. I've moved from Florida and Cleveland Clinic (where I had my surgery) to the Mid-West (Columbia Missouri) to be exact. Believe it or not I've not been able to find a Doctor in this town who has the faintest clue as to what a J-Pouch is or can even tell the difference between a rectum and an anus. Well anyway (I seem to be rambling), I wonder if anyone has any idea what is going on inside my belly?? |

It could be dehydration... I have the j-pouch constructed and a temporary loop ileostomy (for another 2.5 months), and I've had quite a few episodes with dehydration, 3 of which landed me in a hospital. I've been told Gastrolyte tends to keep fluids in... I know headache is a tell-tale sign of dehydration, and over the years, I've noticed anusea is also a pretty good indicator. Try pumping the fluids to ya and see if it helps... it certainly can't hurt. I try to get at least 3 litres into me (about 12 cups a day). Good luck... cheers!

Thanks for the response. Pumping fluids is not one of my problems. I drink at least 8 large cups of water and various other liquids daily.
