Im only just over 1 year post full colectomy and have had a really good recovery.

8 days ago, I awoke at 4am in excruciating pain from my abdomen, it was on a par if not slightly worse than when my bowel was about to perforate.

I thought time was up for my pouch, and I only calmed down and took stock after they pumped me with morphine.

I am not sure of symptoms of pouchitis so assumed this to be the culprit. After blood samples it transpired I have pancreatitis and after 7 days in hospital I am now at home.

My point is, just cos its ab pain, dont assume its your pouch.

That's a very good point. All to often we blame our bowel for any abdominal pain when there are numerous other things it could be.

I'm glad you are feeling better. Have they operated or are you just on medication for your pancreatitis?

Hope you feel better soon.

Take care.

Cool Shell Cool

I had pancreatitis once. 5 days in hospital. I don't remember being in as much pain as you were. I was just sick. But you are right, It does seem like everyone wants to somehow relate everything that happens to their j-pouch. Sometimes I have to laugh.
Unfortunately, I currently have about 5 other things goings on that have nothing at all to do with my j-pouch. After spending the day at Mayo Clinic last Tuesday, I decided I should just quit going to the doctor, they keep finding things wrong! Wink I probably need to find a few more websites like this one! Smiler

Have a fabulous day!

I have come to believe if the doctors look hard enough, they will find something wrong somewhere!

No surgery, just nil by mouth for a week. There is no medication for it, just rest the bowels and keep feeding you morphine until your blood levels go down.

I was being violenly sick at every hit of morphine by the end.
