I'm not quite 3 weeks from takedown. Still really struggling with cramping at times. Some days are better with more formed stools. I'm taking benefiber and also eating the metamucil wafers which seem to help some. Yesterday I had terrible cramping and not sure why.I'm eating a pretty bland diet right now. Doctor recommended that I eat only white bread, white rice etc. What is everyone's experience with getting back to whole wheat bread and more nutricious foods. Hopeing and praying I have a better day today. Stew

Add a new food whenever you feel like it. Add one food at a time to see how it works for you. If it causes problems right now, try it again later. You should be able to eat anything you want.

The reason for the 'white' diet is that it is usually a little easier to digest. But that isn't the case for everyone. Try some whole wheat bread.

Where do you get the cramping pain from?

When I had my ileostomy and then my takedown the only things they said I shouldn't eat were raw veggies, nuts, and popcorn. I eat all of those things now with no problem. It varies for everyone. Like now I have to drink lactose free milk. In time you'll figure out what works for you. Good luck!
