Goose,
My hubby is going in tomorrow (Wednesday) for a reconnection. He is expected to be there until at least Monday. Maybe you will end up being roommates for a few days, wouldn't that be something! Best wishes and prayers going your way. Maybe we will see on you on H50. |

Good luck Goose! I will not be there but I am sure you will have plenty of company as far as people having IBD related surgeries, and plenty of support.

I will not be there when you are having your takedown, but I will be there for a while on August 26 when I have my pouch redo.

Goose,
My hubby was in back in the winter time to have part of his colon removed due to growths on the colon. Five days into his stay he developed a leak which lead to a spetic infection. This is what lead to the emergency ostomy. His original stay was suppose to be 7 days and he was in for 46 days. (between ICU, hospital, and rehab) Dr. Vogel feels he will not need a j pouch. The goal is to reattach the colon in one step. He will make his final determination on how he will procede once he gets in there today and physcially sees how things are. If he cannot proceed doing the procedure all at one time, he will come out of surgery with another pouch for 3 months which will allow the colon more time to heal. The surgery is expected to take 3 hours. They will also have to monitor his kidneys closely during this time. The septic lead to kidney failure for some time. Luckily they have healed enough that dialysis is no longer necessary. THe insurance company has authorized the stay until Monday. Hopefully everyone is erring on the side of caution to make sure nothing goes wrong. My worst fear is that he will develop a leak at home and I will not know what is wrong. Hopefully all will go well, it is almost time to leave and my stomach is in terrible knots. |

Hi Goose...wishing you all the best for a smooth takedown and quick recovery so you can come back here and tell everyone how happy you are that you went through the surgery!

Goose,
Good Luck with your takedown. I will be at the CC on Aug 26 for a diversion. Take Care of yourself, Carolyn |
