I'm having trouble emptying my pouch fully. I have a stricture that was dilated a few weeks ago and that has helped reduce the urgency and number of time I go (10-12 down to 6-7) but, I'm still having trouble emptying my pouch. It takes 30-40 minutes to do it. I have brief emptying movements that push out a little stool. These occur every 5-10 minutes until I'm done. Right now, I'm taking one immodium capsule in the morning and one at night. I've been drinking grape juice and prune juice to thin the stool which makes me go more often but it still takes a long time. I'm apprehensive about adding a fiber supplement, thinking that it would make my stool too thick making things worse. Does anyone have advice that could help?

I have the same problem with my pouch. It just does not empty well at times. My surgeon said it was a sluggish large pouch. It is very painful when it is full and I cant empty it. My surgeon suggested I take 2 tsp of epsom salts disolved in water which emptys me out very well. I have been taking the salts nearly daily for about 5 years. I wouldnt recommend taking the salts, before discussing with your surgeon.
