Hi guys, I've been watching some videos including/about a neuroscientist named Vilayanur Ramachandran. In a couple videos, he talks about "phantom limbs" and says that you can have a phantom of just about anything... including, and I quote, "internal viscera". He then uses an example about women who have had a <idontknowthenameofit> where their uterus is removed and they still feel menstral cramps and whatnot. He then goes into a very logical explanation of it (I recommend searching his name on Youtube!). I was wondering if anyone has had any phantom colon pains? Of course they would probably be passed off as real small intestine pains, but who knows? It's possible, it seems, and probable. He also uses an example of appendicitis patients getting appendix pain, so they are similar cases.

P.S. I really recommend watching many videos with this guy, he is a really good "explainer" and I think his accent is nifty.

I have something along those lines. I no longer have my ostomy, but when I have a bit of gas, it feels as if my phantom ostomy will fart. It's like I can feel my ostomy!

The whole time I had UC (all 5 months!), I had this pain in the right side of my colon, right at the bend. When they took out my colon and saw my appendix, they figured I had appendicitis that was causing that specific pain in my colon. For a while after my colectomy, and every once in awhile now, I'll get the same pains, which yes, could be explained as small bowel pains, but weird it's in the same spot.

Like Tricia, I still get the occasional phantom urge to fart after over 4 years. I have a Barbie Butt so it's pretty impossible but the urge does feel very real.

For months after takedown, I would have phantom ileo feelings- the sensation was hot and almost wet almost like the ileo was leaking.
I never had the colon feelings but I am sure it happens.
