I have to say even amongst us where we deal with poop-related stuff on a daily basis and have for years I feel uncomfortable asking this question but wondering if anyone has any advice/ideas about what is going on with this issue.

Have you experienced where "gas" will cause butt stings? It's similar to what you would get with a bad watery BM .. (the butt burn type stuff).. but it's just gas. The passing of gas causes the stinging in anus/rectum?

I have tried to deal with this by drinking more water, taking peptos, taking antacid tablets... but currently I'm having a stretch of days with this where I haven't been able to shake it. Anyone shed light on what is going on with this when we have this and/or how to deal with it? thanks......-Mike

Do you have irritation, a small hemmorhoid (sp?), a teeny fizzure..............? The only time gas hurts me is when I have something going on.

I too get this a little and I am trying to heal a fissure at present.

Have you tried butt burn salves like Nupercainal or Calmoseptine? They may help to alleviate the problem. Or if you need the big guns, go for Ilex.

I have noticed that when I have very acidic stool in the pouch and have gas too. Seems like the gas pushes the stool into the anal canal a bit, and that is where it starts being painful.

kta, it feels like "irritation". Actually, not altogether different from what the old UC felt like in the beginning.

And kathy I do use the Ilex. I put on a layer of Ilex then another layer of 40% destin to keep the Ilex from sticking to itself and give additional barrier.

I'm being a little stubborn trying to get back to feeling good on my own without the doc. But soon if I don't get there I will call doc and get checked out.... (hoping it won't come to that)......
