well almost 4 weeks after takedown i was back in.started having bad stomach cramps which came to a point where i could not stand up straight. went to ER they did a CAT scan and said they think obstruction so they sent me in ambulance back down to the Cleveland Clinic where my surgeon is. they did not agree with the scan so they did a x-ray with rectal contrast. this showed a small leak in the pouch. my surgeon then did a scope of the pouch but could not find a leak at all, but did say the pouch looked good visually but everytime he would touch it,it would bleed. it is very inflamed. so course of action was nothing by mouth for a few days and antibiotics to get the very small leak to close. went back on food 2 days ago and so far so good. got out today. i had no fevers or other symptoms, just the bad cramping pain.lets hope i stay good. if not i may have to go back to temp ostomy for awhile. which i do not want to do.

Glad to hear you are out of the "house"! Sorry to hear you are still having pain Frowner
Keep in mind that even though you have been released from the hospital it doesn't mean you are totally "well" and while you didn't have a blockage, a lot of folks think that once a blockage has passed that they will feel totally better...Not so...Now the gut has to recover from the stress and strain of the blockage and can actually take a couple of weeks before the pain truly subsides.

POUCHO,
I was wondering how things were going..I'm at the clinic now with the exact same problem. Did your pouch heal on it's own??
I'm going for a gastrograph today. But the scan showed a leak. How on earth can this heal without surgery? I hope that it's true. Let me know.
Thanks!

I had a blockage and was in two different hospitals before they figured it out. It was an adhesion causing a double blockage on my small intestines. Anybody can get one that has been operated on. I went without food or drink for 13 days. I guess they were hoping that it would clear up on its own. The worse experience was the hose they put through my nose down my throat. I felt it everytime I swallowed. I have been hospitalized several times for blockages and have cleared them up myself. I had one last night. I was dying. I took a antibiotic and a percocet and finally this morning I went. My stomach is still swollen and sore. I had some dry toast to take my meds and will eat lightly all day. I caused the problem. I ate too much. I never eat raw vegetable or fruit or nuts. If I eat vegetables that are too crisp or undercooked I can set myself up for a blockage where the stoma was there will always be a narrowing so you have to chew well and watch the ruffage. Take care.
