Dear all,

well let me introduce my self 1st

I'm 26 , S pouch patient, Egyptian (i think that i 'm the only Egyptian here cause the UC and the colectomy aren't poupler in the middle east Zone), Male ,having UC since i was 18 , seven years of suffuring i tried every thing cortizone tablets enma suppositories , pentasa , salofalk , asacol, salazobyrine and many times i found my hemoglobin became 8 and i go through blood transfer cause i couldn't control the bleeding , and i guess that i'm the 1st one in cairo how visited all country WC's ,i was thinking to make a map for it, anyway

i made a desicion to finalize this wc strong relation and make the surgery thinking that the surgery gonna be my safe heaven and i'll be normal again

well i'm not gonna talk about the 1st step problems cause it was only irritations

after i made the 2ed step by 1 week and start eating i found that i'm not going to the wc i made x-ray and the doctor said that i need to widen the anal canal while widening the doctor was Agressive so that causes me a leakage and back again to they ileostomy.

after finishing these problems i closed the ileostomy again and that was 1 month ago

again i had the problem of not going to the WC and after i made the x-ray they told me that the pouch carring to much stool and u need a cleaning enema and the pouch from the stress became bigger and that is in my benefit

now i and after 1 month of the 2ed step i found my self can hold not going to the WC for more than 24 hours "seems perfect hah?" but the next 24 hours i became a part from the WC not 10 time visit.. i'm talking about more than 40 times which i call that the pouch revenge

that's it my case now 1 day away and 1 day full time in the wc

did anybody have experince like this or any ideas ?

Regards all

How are you eating? Are you eating the same amounts/times every day? Or do you change your eating habits on the day you spend so much time in the wc?

I have had days where I don't go as often, but it eventually does come out. It just sounds like maybe you eat, and don't go all day - but by the second day it's all coming out. And maybe you don't eat much that second day because you are going so often? And not eating then makes the next day really easy since there's not much food in your body?

Also, if you're only 1 month out of your 2nd step, don't be surprised that you are going so frequently when you do go. It took me a month or two to adjust and for things to slow down to about 10 times/day. Around 4 months out I averaged about 7 and now I go 6-7 times usually.

Let us know how and what you have been eating and maybe people will have some other ideas for you.

Early on I had very similar problems emptying completely. There were a number of reasons: things were still healing, my sphincter muscles were out of shape, there was probably some spasm-ing in the sphincter making me feel like I always had to go, I had a lot of gas causing me to go a lot, and the pouch wasn't really stretched out yet.

Don't get me wrong. There can be issues that cause you to not be able to empty completely: strictures (narrowing) and sometimes pouchitis. Also, you may not be used to sitting there as long as it takes to empty it out. Because you no longer have a muscular colon that could squeeze out stool you have to rely on gravity to move it down. I have to sit in the bathroom for 10-15 minutes each time if I want to empty completely.

You can keep drinking the juices if you want to help you to empty. However, they will make you go more often and make things runnier (which makes you go more often).

I'm not so sure that you are really having trouble emptying completely. You may just have to go a lot - which is very common a month after takedown. I was going 20+ times.

Give it time. Eat bulking foods (like rice and bananas). Introduce fiber when you find you can tolerate it (when you find it helps instead of makes things worse). Find a probiotic to take if you can when you can tolerate it. This will help you reduce the frequency in the bathroom. You may also find the every-other day thing takes care of itself in the process.
