I got another question for you all.
What did you take for pain after T.D? Do you think Tylenol would work?? My surgeon gave me Percocet last surgery, and I did not like those after I came off of them. They made me super sad and depressed. Since my "Parents" are drug addicts I would really like to stay away from any kind of drugs. Do you all think it's possible or is there a lot of pain like with the 1st surgery?? Jessica 1st surgery done on 8/21/07 Had T.D On 12/31/07 |

Hey Jessica,
I had a fair amount of pain for the first few days and was given morphine through my IV. Once I started eating I was switched to regular tylenol by mouth. A lot of the pain/discomfort I experienced was from gas, and cannot be alleviated by pain meds. I continued with the regular tylenol for about 10 days I think and then stopped. I found the pain to be much much less than the first surgery. I'll walk this winding road into the great unknown. |

I was given Vicodin on discharge, probably about 10 days worth. I was in the hospital from Thursday to Saturday. Within 24 hours post-op I was on oral pain meds.

I had surgery Thursday AM - had morphine pump for rest of day. Switched to Vicodin on Friday and was out of hospital Sat AM.
Very little pain compared to first surgery. First surgery knocked me for a loop for a month...2nd surgery I was out and about in 3 days. I took 4 weeks off from work just to have some time to get used to the plumbing. Hope this helps Happy New Year David |

I came home from TD with the darvocet I had from the first surgery. I used 2 pills after the first surgery and none for the second after I got home. The second surgery was a breeze to me after going through the first.

I was in the hospital five days... not because of complications but since I lived about 3.5 hours away I think my surgeon was more cautious. I was on the morphine drip at the hospital but tylenol when I went home. I was prescribed percoset but it makes me puke so tylenol worked for me.

What a pleasant surprise it was for me to discover I had no pain after the takedown! I didn't even need Tylenol! This was a far cry from my experience after my first step!
