I've had both beer and wine soon after takedown and have been fine. I'd take a "test run" at home before you go out to see how it will affect you, since you don't want to ruin your night out. Don't overdo it when you're out!

I seem to question the effects of alcohol on my j pouch, but it may have been the nachos I had with it! http://jeffuc.blogspot.com/July 2006-Pancreatitis Oct. 2006-Pancreatitis 1. Colectomy Dec. 27, 2006 2. Takedown April 10, 2007 June 2007-Pancreatitis

One should be fine, but it will make things watery.

My J-pouch going ton 5 years + post takedown loves wine and/or gin martinis--two olives. No problem on this end for me! I'm rather a purist when it comes to drinks so I don't add sugary mixes, etc. Maybe that's the difference!

Thanks for the advice, guys! I had one beer on Saturday night, and except for a little more gas than usual, it was fine. I feel a little more full than usual, but could have been my dinner, too (I was so happy to be out to dinner, that I think I ate a little too much)!

Hi, Terri.
I remember asking my surgeon upon my release from the hospital if it was okay to have a beer to celebrate. He replied that after everything that I had gone through, I should have two or three!
Nowm that's the type of medical advice I like to receive!

I'll have a micro brew every now and then or a White Russain. I also have PSC, so I have to limit my booze. I hit it pretty hard from 19 to 29 anyway.....
