It all depends on how urgent you think your issues are. If you can't wait a few weeks for treatment, seeking outside help makes sense. However, I would ask his office staff if there is anyone that he refers patients to when he cannot personally handle a case. Sometimes, doctors do have agreements with others in private practice as far as coverage while they are away. It would be a courtesy to inquire. If you have already done this, then I guess he leaves you no other alternative than to seek outside advice. Just be prepared to be referred back if he does not see this as an urgent issue. Jan

Yeah, I really would like this matter settled soon as it would be another month before I even get see my regular surgeon. However, I think there's a good chance he'll just refer me back to my regular surgeon.

Yes, but sometimes a fresh set of eyes can see the same issue in a different light. A consultation may be all you need to begin inquiry in a different direction. Jan
