Probably. Your reasoning makes sense, since both of those can be caused by straining.

Definitely. I didnot have a stricture. but had a long efferent limb > 7cms or rectal cuff and had difficulty emptying my pouch. I had problems with hemorrhoids and chronic fissure for about 3 years. in June I went to London to have pouch advancement surgery. My problems with fissures etc were never going to improve until the cuff was shortened. I had chronic pouchitis also which I believe was due to the fact that I could empty my pouch properly.
