I will sprinkle a half teaspoon on my cerial then let it soak for about 10 minutes. At noo I put a teaspoon in my yogurt, also let it soak a bit,I basicly add it to any food I eat that has a liquid in it and let it soak. I just got another two large pacs the other day,we are making these muffins I eat,we add blueberries, and anything that is super healthy.I could not imagine not eating salba now,it,s working wonders for me.If you have any questions just email me on hotmail,be more than happy to help. 1) so say i mix this stuff into like milk or a coke or something, it will completely dissolve and i wont be able to taste it?
2) also, i recall you saying you have less gas now after taking the salba? does this mean when you go, its not as loud and explosive?
3) also, what other effects are we looking at? i usually go about 4-5 times a day. so about 4 hours in between BM's. how many hours have you gained in between BM's?
4) is the stool more solid now?
thanks alot.

hi i have very little gas now,i,m also not watery at all, some what thick to be honest, but this is not totaly due cto salba, the rest of my diet is doing some thing to.Not sure about mixing it with coke, salba has no taste at all,I was more thinks of a food liquid to mix it with,At present I go about 5 to 8 times,,8 if I,m mhavin a red wine.I think right now I may have a stricture, not sure,so I,m trying to make myself a bit loose, but i,m not stopping the salba,I,m easing up on my rice and other stuff.

IHatecolitis- I'm surprised that you're still drinking carbonated beverages like Coke. Although I realize that everyone is different, it seems that soda is not conducive to colitis improvement and in my case, the jpouch. As far as Salba and free trials; Google Salba and there is a Canadien Co. that will send you 3 samples, which really isn't enough to determines it's efficacy, but it tastes fine. I've been using 4 apple pectin capsules per day for the past 3 weeks and have noticed a big improvement in the consistency of my stools. Good luck

I don't think the rollie eyes mean anything. They're just an icon/graemlin. I think she was sincere in asking what it does. She may not have seen the previous thread. Here it is: http://j-pouch.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9151071921/m/7021068802/p/1Jaybo - I've never had a problem with any carbonated drink (other than that one incident with Champagne while with appliance.....) At the supreme risk of offending ANYONE here, we need to realize that we're all in the same boat and I really don't think anyone would intentionally insult or upset any other member here. kathy

Drinking carbonated beverages is purely an individual thing, just like any other diet issue with the j-pouch. However, if you are having trouble with gas and frequency, then one of things you can do is avoid carbonated beverages. The important thing to remember is that there is NO food or drink that is strictly forbidden with the pouch. Recommendations are simply that, recommendations. People who have problems want ideas on how they can manage their pouch function better. Obviously, many people can tolerate a wide variety of things that others cannot. Personally, I think folks should limit carbonated beverages because it is hard on the enamel of your teeth (carbolic acid), not because of your pouch. http://www.healthfinder.gov/news/newsstory.asp?docID=531449Jan
Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
