just a quick update. I had surgery #2 on Tues and it went very well. I have passed gas (yay! everyone is always so excited when we pass gas after these surgeries!) and am currently on clear liquids. They expect to put me on liquids (which for some reason includes farina) tomorrow to see how that goes. I'm feeling good in spite of the rather ghoulish looking staples in my belly, and hope to go home as soon as Sat. Looking forward to moving on and making all this a bit less of a major focus of my life.

Glad everything went so well! Are you sure you HAVE to eat farina? Seems like cruel and unusual punishment.

Dear Jenny,

Thanks for sharing the great news. Well, except the part about Farina. Smiler

I had takedown on Monday the 16th and came home yesterday, the 19th. Still on clear liquids and my surgeon told me to "eat soft" for a while. It sounds like what you're eating, too.

I hope you continue to feel great and enjoy being bagless!

Congrats to both you, Norn and Rudolph! I know you'll enjoy that first shower bag free! It's great. :-) I'm curious now, I have to google Farina to see what that is. I ate a lot of dry corn chex when I came home. Best of luck to you both!

Farina = Cream of Wheat and is actually quite yummy if made right: not too much water, a bit of salt helps and the real secrets - a tablespoon or so of powdered milk and some nice local maple syrup. Unfortunately that is not the way the hospital makes it, but what can you do? I actually find even theirs not too bad, and at least it goes down easy and seems to come out easy....
and btw

I AM HOME!!!!!!! (sorry to shout but it is exciting and I dont know how to do the clever emoton things)

Jenny!
Guess the carrots and rice worked ok for you last night! So glad to see you made it home today. Isn't it always nicer to be home in your own surroundings?? Although, with all the gorgeous flowers and your laptop in your hospital room, it seemed like home! Keep in touch, always around to be a cheerleader when you need one!!
