I'm currently taking Codeine to help slow things down. It says you shouldn't drink whilst taking it but I'm going on holiday in a few weeks and was wondering if 1 or 2 glasses of wine would cause a problem. Obviously I'm not going to get really drunk but I'd like to be able to have the odd occassional drink. If anyone else takes Codeine could you let me know if you've been able to tolerate alcohol.

I've been on codine for 3 months and no problem with a few beers from time to time.

I'm pretty sure the main reason why they say don't drink and take codiene is because it intesifies the effects and makes it easier to pass out and stop breathing. But, I spent the beginning of my teen years experimenting with such pills and alcohol, and I never had any problems with it, even after getting really, really drunk while on vicodin. Which probably wasn't the best idea, but it didn't cause any other problems than the usual crippling hangover.
