Does anyone know if Beano has to be taken directly before a meal to work? Or could it be taken after a meal when the gas pains start?

Thanks!

My understanding is that you take it with your meal, at the first bite, so that it is in contact with your food. It is an enzyme, so it needs to be in contact with the food to assist with digestion. It helps with the carbohydrate breakdown, so that it is more fully digested and there is less for bacteria to work on as it travels through the system. If you wait until the gas is formed, it is too late.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
