in december ..my first break from college..actually the DAY i come back i am going to be whipped off to total reconstruction surgery for my fistula where i will have a covering ostomy as well..i dont feel like it's a good idea for him to completely cut from my vagina through to my anus ..seeing as if it fails i will be completely opened..not saying it will fail..he is going to revise the jpouch ...cut open my vagina and cut out the whole fistula area then sew it back together..just a concern..anyone have this done with success?

Wow Alicia! That's some impressive surgery!
How do you feel about a reverting to a permanent ostomy? I can't remember if you've mentioned it before. Doesn't that take care of the fistula in the process? I wish you the best of luck on this long, long journey you're taking!!! I wish I had answers for you. kathy *********************************************************** Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it's been..... Grateful Dead |

Alicia,
I'm confused. So he's not taking a muscle flap from anywhere to fill in the hole? After he cuts out the section with the fistula he just sews it up? Could you clarify? I've had numerous surgeries to repair and R/V fistula and the one that finally worked was where they took a gluteal thigh flap muscle and used that to repair the fistula and hole. HUGE SURGERY and recovery time but it worked! PM if you want to chat more. Lori "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." Romans 8:28 |

I tried the "Art of Living" class and it took care of my fistula. This class involves breathing techniques and does wonders! I would recommend trying this before ....this class is a 6 days, 3 hr class and after 2 weeks my fistula was gone!!
If you need more info, feel free to email me... Good Luck! |
