One step at a time.

Stairs are good for you. But, if you are worried about those early weeks when you don't have much steam, you may want to set up a bed downstairs until you feel better. I was weak as a kitten when I first came home, but I was very ill for several months before surgery.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
